Can I Play the Do and the Don't at the Same Time?

Dear Larry,

When the table is hot and getting payouts on come bets (taking 2x odds) from time to time, the dealer yells, "off and on" for x$. I assume this is based on your previous odds, and the place bet on the number that just hit. Is this right?

Yes, this is correct. It just saves the dealer from making an extra step. He just leaves your come bet there on the same number and pays you.

Yes, you can play pass and don't pass at the same time. You will, however, lose on the 12 (the don't pass does not win on the 12), and you might not get any comps for doing this.

What is the payout of a $5 horn bet if the 2 or 12 comes up? What is it when the 3 or 11 comes up. Is there an easy way to figure out what the payoff is?

Hi, Sid,

The horn can be bet in multiples of $4 only. It is like making four different $1 bets on the 2, 3, 11 and 12. The 2 and 12 pay 30:1 and the 3 and 11 pay 15:1. So if you bet $4 horn and the 2/12 hits you win $30 less $3 (the other losing bets) for a total of $27. If the 3/11 hits you win $15 less $3 or $12.
